Lilium superbum, which ranges from New Hampshire south to Louisiana, is usually native to wet meadows as well as sandy acidic woodland swamps. In the garden, we find moist, well drained soils to be perfect. The whorled leaf stalks emerge from the stoloniferous bulbs and shoot upward in spring, topping out at 6 7' in height. In mid summer,
