It began as a simple recreation area, but soon an amusement ride would be added in 1889. Down the road Geauga Lake would add the Big Dipper, the park's first first roller coaster, over thirty years later in 1925. Geauga Lake would continue to grow and operate until it was purchased by Funtime Inc. in 1969. New ownership continued to expand
