Victorian Plique-à-jour Notre Dame Rose Window Pendant sapphire Dating from the mid-Victorian eraDATE: Victorian, c. 1900 This beautiful antique pendant is finished in colourful plique jour enamel. It has been modelled after the North Rose Window at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, and is fashioned in 18k yellow gold. The term plique jour literally translates into English as "letting in daylight", for the obvious reason that the light is allowed to pass through the coloured enamel work just like stained glass.
