They reflect the light back out, in a way where it appears to "pool" and glow brightly inside them. It's a breath taking effect in low light and direct sunlight alike, and each stone is finely caged in silver, linked together by a chain. Try wearing it with a different coloured jumper or shirt, and the light will reflect that colour! Beads for any
