Antique Italian 15th Century Carved Wood Hand-Painted Madonna Statue Vecchietta 1460 Redo each of the seven drawersAn important Italian Renaissance carved walnut & polychrome statue of The Madonna, Siena, by Lorenzo di Pietro (1420 1480) also known as Vecchietta, the statue circa 1460. This very beautiful Sienese carved Virgin from the late 1400s was a devotional object, it depicts the Virgin Mary kneeling in adoration. The figure is deftly and sensitively carved from limewood and gesso and is archetypical of the Sienese school of carving; depicting a graceful,
