Instituted 25 March 1833 by Dukes Friedrich of Saxe Altenburg, Ernst I of Saxe Coburg & Gotha, and Bernhard II of Saxe Meiningen. (1917 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribboned fastened with a 1914 7 sword clasp, the obverse bearing a raised and rightward facing profile of Duke Carl Eduard of Saxe
